The Director of Health Benefits position is part of the Benefits Center of Excellence. This position will have the responsibility of applying the same method of thinking towards the strategy and analysis of a competitive benefit offering for our talent.

What you’ll do
The Director, Health Benefits Strategy is responsible for the assessment, design, and development organization-wide benefits philosophy, with a concentration in U.S. Benefits. Responsibilities span a variety of employee benefit programs, including but not limited to health and welfare offerings, including wellbeing programs, while ensuring cost effective delivery. The incumbent acts as the subject matter expert for domestic benefits, and works with HR Business Partners, external consultants and vendors, and other internal functions to develop and maintain competitive benefit programs. The incumbent will also deliver clear and appropriate communication related to these benefits programs.
Design innovative benefit programs, processes and practices that are responsive to Hearst’s changing business needs and requirements, giving Hearst a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining employees.
Oversee all facets of employee benefits plan design, policies, budgets and operations, along with being responsible for analysis of the effectiveness of the company’s various benefit plans and programs. This is an innovative, changing environment and the candidate has the opportunity to introduce new approaches and concepts to the benefits function.
Promote a culture of health and wellness via engaging healthcare programs. Includes leadership of the wellness strategy in the U.S.
Keep abreast of and analyze market trends and state-of-the-art benefits options.
Accountable for HR due diligence on all major acquisitions and integrations regarding benefits.
Excellent executive presentation skills, able to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely, and able to respectfully question and/or challenge others to think through problems, improvement opportunities, and viable solutions Adept at tailoring their communication to their audience.
Responsible for overseeing the selection, execution, communication and effectiveness of metrics, scorecards, surveys and analyses which support the evaluation of and decision making about benefits processes and functions.
Responsible for staying current with changes in legislative and local practice that affect benefits programs by working with HR Business Partners and other corporation functions to ensure benefits programs are compliant with all local laws, regulations and internal guidelines.
Negotiate vendor relationships, administer contracts and monitor performance.
Who you are
Bachelor’s Degree; Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in designing and managing benefit
programs
Advanced knowledge of benefit theories/concepts, regulatory environment and applicable laws
affecting benefit plans
Ability to multitask and prioritize workload to anticipate and meet deadlines while helping key decision
makers make sound choices
Strong organizational skills, self-motivated and detail oriented
Ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment
