The Sr. Director, Benefits and Compensation will plan and direct the overall strategy, design, implementation, communication, and administration of Total Wine & More’s benefits, compensation and recognition and engagement programs. You will partner with leadership within HR and across the company to ensure that all benefits, compensation and recognition programs are competitive, cost-effective, legally compliant, and supportive the company’s strategic objectives. You will report to the Vice President, Human Resources, Total Rewards & Talent Management.
Provide overall strategic direction for all aspects of the company’s employee benefits policy and plans including Health Care and Wellness, Retirement and Savings, Welfare, and other related benefit plans, such as Disability and Life Insurance.
Provide overall strategic direction for all aspects of the company’s compensation strategy including building and delivering unified compensation programs which will include but not limited to benchmarking, competitive market analysis, job evaluation, offer development and internal pay for performance analyses.
Design, develop, communicate and administer competitive total rewards strategies, including compensation, benefits, retirement, recognition and engagement and other work experience programs, that are cost effective and consistent with labor market trends and organizational objectives.
Partners with HR on the development and documentation of career paths and aligns internal job/pay relationships
Actively manage vendor, auditor, and consultant relationships for all benefit programs and ensure vendor services are satisfactory for Total Wine team members
Conceptualize and present business cases for total reward program changes, and manage the selection and oversight of various consulting and related services used by the company
Supervise the administration of the company’s relocation program, ensuring seamless moves and remaining within budget and policy guidelines
Oversee and direct annual benefits budgeting process
Maintain knowledge of cutting-edge total reward programs, trend, and “best practices” in all aspects of benefits and compensation management
Stay alert and ahead of emerging government and IRS regulations, practices, and policies, and evaluate appropriate responses and changes to policies and programs if necessary
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of approximately three team members
Ensure that Total Wine More’s plans comply with federal, state and local laws and regulations, and that processes and controls are in place to guarantee ongoing compliance
You will come with
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, or related field
10+ years’ broad experience designing and leading a Total Rewards function
Experience with design and implementation of benefits and compensation programs
Experience with both self-insured and fully-insured healthcare models (e.g., active health exchanges) a plus
Experience with multiple vendors, including vendor management and negotiations
Ability to translate data and trends into insights and strategies
Hands on approach to achieve results
Strong business acumen
Project management and program development skills
Ability to identify issues develops recommendations, sell ideas, and implement the solution.
