What you will be doing
The Director, Human Resources will lead a team that contributes to defining and implementing an HR strategy that aligns and integrates with the client’s business strategy. You will serve as a trusted strategic partner to leadership of an assigned area and will develop, assess, and anticipate HR related needs that enables business strategies and fosters leadership success. You will do this through helping to define the organization’s talent needs, drive leaders and teams to build and maintain a strong culture of inclusion and belonging and influence a relentless focus on continuously improving the associate experience. This role also has ownership, oversight and management of associate relations investigations.
The Director, Human Resources operates with a high level of autonomy and will mentor and develop a team of HR professionals. You will report to the VP of Human Resources for SoCal and will be based in Fullerton, CA.
The salary range is $131,200 - $183,640 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
Main responsibilities
Create and implement a robust people strategy that proactively addresses business needs in the various areas of HR: diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging, learning & development, associate relations, associate experience, talent acquisition and compensation.
Lead the implementation of key company-wide HR initiatives and life cycle activities for the client group, e.g., learning programs, compensation planning, performance management, talent planning and rewards/recognition.
Provide ongoing support and offer thought leadership to leaders regarding people and organization-related strategy and execution.
Drive positive associate experiences throughout the associate lifecycle that enables our people-first culture where everyone feels engaged and inspired to unleash their full potential, personally and professionally.
Track and translate cultural themes to actionable solutions.
Lead the development of new and existing learning and education programs.
Promote and enable a fair and inclusive workplace that safeguards the company’s employment brand by ensuring that associate and company interests are handled in a fair and consistent manner.
Partner with management and division General Counsel to solve conflicts and help facilitate positive associate relations through conducting complex and sensitive workplace investigations that includes: determining appropriate investigation strategies, conducting interviews, reviewing material, and determining recommendations for appropriate resolution.
Develop and deliver programs that increase the diversity of the organization and creates a culture of inclusion.
Key member of the SoCal Division’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Council
Analyze and interpret various types of associate reports(e.g., compensation, demographics, attrition, survey) to guide decision making and provide proactive solutions to meet the changing needs of the business and workforce.
Attend client staff meetings as a key member of the leadership team and HR Business Partner.
Strategize and drive org development initiatives to ensure that the design, capabilities, processes, and culture of the organization deliver the business strategy.
Apply analytical skills to collect and synthesize data, tell the story, and formulate recommendations based on data trends and insights.
Develop direct team to levels of peak performance and enable individuals to grow and reach their potential.
Implement innovative and inclusive recruitment strategies.
Develop and implement appropriate change management plans.

Experience creating and executing communication plans/strategies.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
10+ years in progressively responsible Human Resources roles including significant involvement with senior level business leaders.
Experience and exposure to a variety of HR facets with specific experience in org strategy development, employee relations, DE&I, talent development and talent acquisition strongly preferred.
Experience working as an HR Business Partner collaborating with senior leaders in an “influence-without-authority” role strongly preferred.
Experience working in and/or supporting operational, retail and union environments a plus.
BA/BS in Business, HR, or related field and/or combination equivalent work experience.
MBA or Masters in HR or related field a plus.
Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws pertaining to the employment relationship.
Weekly in-person client staff meetings required.
Occasional travel to stores and community events across Southern California required.
