PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Director of Benefits will develop strategies and manage activities that strive to provide excellent administration, engagement, participant education and customer service for the MGM Resorts 401(k) Savings Plan, the Deferred Compensation Plan II, Affordable Care Act, and the Relocation Program within the framework of the financial objectives of the Company. This position provides direct leadership and strategic direction to all benefits administration functions, all benefits compliance related areas, all benefits plan engagement and education, and the strategy, plan design and management of the MGM Resorts 401(k) Savings Plan.
This role will ensure that the various programs are administered consistent with company objectives and strategy and that all plans administered are in compliance with federal and state regulations. To ensure effectiveness, this position will be responsible for identifying and implementing metrics to measure performance in these areas and to develop action plans and objectives to continuously improve.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for compliance in all areas of benefits administration, including but not limited to Plan Documents, SPDs, SARs, and all participant notices required to ensure MGM Resorts is compliant.
Responsible for the budget, plan design, administration, third party audits, annual financials, and management of the Investment Committee for the over $1 billion MGM Resorts 401(k) Savings Plan that has 35,000+ eligible employees. Also responsible for the calculation of the annual company match of over $17+ million.
Lead, delegate and manage all aspects of MGM Resorts international benefits plans administration including contract negotiations, actual plan administration, vendor selection and audits. This also includes oversight of the International Assignment Program allowances.
Design, implement and monitor employee engagement strategies for the company-sponsored Gold Plan benefits, voluntary offerings, and retirement plans.
Lead, delegate and manage the over $2 million annual MGM Resorts Relocation program, including but not limited to the negotiation of the contract with the third-party administrator, development of the policy and administration of the program, and oversight of 100-150+ domestic moves and 5-10+ international moves per year.
Lead, delegate and manage all aspects of the Affordable Care Act employer shared responsibility including but not limited to eligibility, affordability, variable hour reporting determination, measurement/stability periods, mandatory IRS reporting, and Marketplace notice appeals.
Main point of contact for all outside business partners related to benefits administration and voluntary benefits offerings.
Provides direct leadership, coaching and mentoring to staff in accordance with S.H.O.W. principles.
Participate in continuing education and seminars to remain current on ever changing health care law and defined contribution regulations.
Collaborate with HR Directors/VPs with the organization to resolve issues and share best practices. Provide support as subject matter expert and cultivate strong relationships.
Works independently and self-directed.
Presents public presentations and papers promoting the MGM Resorts benefits programs at local and national conferences and other forums.
Assists the Executive Director of Benefits in the drafting of the strategic plan for Corporate Benefits, all M&A projects and any other duties that may be assigned.
Other duties as necessary and assigned by Human Resources leadership.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
4+ years of prior experience in benefits related field
PREFERRED:
7 to 10 years’ experience in benefits related field
5+ years management experience
3+ years international benefits management
Advanced degree in a related field
Ten years of benefits administration, plan design and engagement experience
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting
