DESCRIPTION
The Amazon Global Benefits team is seeking a Benefits Manager (Benefits Specialist III) to own and build the next generation medical benefit member experience. This role will raise the bar on the end-to-end experience Amazonians have and will be accountable for managing program performance, building, inventing, and simplifying the experience for medical benefits.Amazon offers medical health insurance options to eligible employees starting on day one, that are customer obsessed and innovative.

You will work in a dynamic, ambiguous and fast-paced environment with a team focused on medical benefit strategy, design, and delivery.This role is based in Seattle, WA (HQ1). Periodic domestic business travel is required.Key job responsibilities- Translate voice of customer data into strategic program management recommendations to enhance member experience- Conduct on-going deep business analysis of program spend and partner with the business in identifying potential savings and efficiencies- Apply deep industry knowledge to write white paper proposals and recommendations to develop/enhance program/process design.
Candidate will influence and communicate across multiple internal and external teams- Work collaboratively with vendor partners, and internal cross functional teams to build and implement medical benefit design and process improvements at scale- Develop efficient workflows for internal and external technical teams to build new medical solutions and cross-vendor integrations- Manage multiple concurrent projects- Influence all aspects of the vendor engagement based on depth of experience including industry and compliance standards. Drive end-to-end solutions with internal business partners and vendor(s).- Monitor, document, analyze and resolve member escalations- Be the medical plan SME and own the coordination of medical procurement, finance, communications, contracting and compliance- Manage appeals/exception/escalation process and documents all decisions- Develop proposals and summary documents for senior leadersWe are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Seattle, WA, USA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience leading strategic and operational medical program management in national employer health plan, at a health insurance organization, or as a healthcare benefit consultant- Bachelor’s degree or higher in healthcare, business, HR or related field or equivalent experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree or higher in healthcare, business, HR or related field- Proven track record of effectively forming collaborative team relationships with senior administrators, department managers/directors, clinicians and vendors in complex organizations to coordinate the launch of innovative and successful medical programs- 7+ years of experience in employee medical benefit plan design, along with plan administration, associated payroll processes, regulatory requirements and benefits program taxability- Prior experience with patient support clinical programs- Exceptional critical thinking/problem solving skills, comfortable analyzing large amounts of medical plan benefit data and communicating findings with senior leaders- Excellent written and verbal communications skills. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
